UFL: Kaya Vs. Air Force

UFL: Kaya Vs. Air Force

I’m not one to write a post-game analysis. I won’t pretend I know much about football because my training days were so long ago, my knowledge of the game has dissipated quite significantly.

Weekend training in Ateneo Our first tournament in UP Los Baños

My reintroduction to the offside rule had to be done by way of this shoe-buying/purse-throwing analysis: Explaining the Offside Rule to Women. (Thank you, Tony Sarmiento.)

Yes, when it comes to football, I can be quite a ditz.

But it doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the sport and learn by watching game after game. And what I can’t explain in words, I express through pictures. (Then I call my football friends to caption the photos for me. Sometimes.)

Air Force starting lineup

Yanti Barsales and Anton del Rosario prior to kickoff

Kaya's Jonah Romero

Eric Dagroh scores the only goal in the game

Masih Rezaei, Yanti Barsales, and Kaya GK Sadeghi Saba

On the road to recovery: Aly Borromeo

Kaya defender Jason Sabio

Everyone loves Airforce GK Tats Mercado, also known as "Extra Rice"

Brothers are a common in UFL teams: Anton and Armand del Rosario

Air Force striker Ian Araneta

Kaya huddles before the second half

Azkal vs. Azkal: Chieffy Caligdong and Anton del Rosario

Now it's Lexton Moy against Chieffy

Nate Burkey

Eddie Mallari. Yay, a Mallari who plays football! Probably not of my bloodline then.

Anton, Saba, and the Mystery Man Anton, Saba, and the Mystery Man

Anton, Saba, and the Mystery Man

Herbert Bayona(?), down before the final whistle

Full time, Kaya 1-0 Air Force

Final score: Kaya FC 1-0 Philippine Air Force FC.

Young football fans in the grandstands

Once again, seeing how excited these kids were to watch their football idols play was awe-inspiring.
